Here, you’ll learn how to use a dry suit so you can handle yourself well even in colder waters.

In the Specialty Dry Suit Diving course, you’ll become familiar with the operation and movement techniques involved in diving with dry suits.

During the theoretical training, you’ll learn about the history of dry suit diving, the suits’ insulating properties, and thermal regulation. You’ll learn everything about the construction and functionality of the various suit types and components, as well as how to operate and handle them. You’ll also learn how to properly maintain and care for your suit.

The practical training includes buoyancy control exercises at the water’s surface and in shallow water. You’ll learn how to descend into the suit with little or no air added, make a stop using the inflator, and ascend in a controlled manner via the exhaust valve, including a simulated decompression stop. Additional exercises include ascending using fin kicks without adding air, as well as turning during the ascent.

This course thoroughly prepares you for diving with dry suits.

  • Minimum age: 12 years old
  • Proof of i.a.c. Open Water Diver certification or equivalent
  • Proof of good health
  • For minors, a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian is required

A mandatory requirement for the successful completion of the respective course is the practical training. This will incur additional costs. These costs are to be paid separately to the DiveCenter selected by you.

The pricing for the practical training is up to the respective DiveCenter and can vary accordingly.

At the end of the course and upon successful completion of the practical training, you will receive your certification, which attests that you have successfully completed the i.a.c. Specialty Dry Suit Diving course.

The purchase of an i.a.c. e-Academy course does not automatically lead to certification of the respective course. For a valid certification, the required practice units according to the Training Record Card must also be carried out with an i.a.c. instructor. Instructor and be finally approved by this instructor. The additional costs for the practice units/examinations are to be paid by the purchasing person to the DiveCenter itself.
