With this diving certificate, also called Certification, you are authorized to dive worldwide in open waters (not only in swimming pools or other closed waters), even without being accompanied by an instructor. The Open Water Diver course consists of theory and practice sessions and includes instruction in equipment, emergencies, the environment, and the conduct of diving itself. After successful completion of the course you are authorized to dive worldwide within your qualification and experience limits.

A mandatory requirement for the successful completion of the respective course is the practical training. This will incur additional costs. These costs are to be paid separately to the DiveCenter selected by you.
The pricing for the practical training is up to the respective DiveCenter and can vary accordingly.
After successful completion of the Open Water Diver you are authorized to dive together with another Open Water Diver. Within this course you could already gain first experience in the field of orientation. In our Specialty Navigation you will learn more basics to navigate safely under water. With the specialty Deep Diving and a further specialty of your choice, you can then already complete the i.a.c. Advanced Open Water Diver.
At the end of the course and with successful practical training you will receive your certification, which certifies that you have successfully completed the Open Water Diver course.
The purchase of an i.a.c. e-Academy course does not automatically lead to certification of the respective course. For a valid certification, the required practice units according to the Training Record Card must also be carried out with an i.a.c. instructor. Instructor and be finally approved by this instructor. The additional costs for the practice units/examinations are to be paid by the purchasing person to the DiveCenter itself.
